We want to be your writing BFFs, your mentors, so let us tell you a bit more about ourselves.
We’re Nicole and Rebecca, speculative fiction book coaches and writers. We coach writers through the process of writing a science fiction or fantasy book and building a path to publication. What makes us qualified to do so?
We both have degrees in English (hello, composition essays), are experts on the publishing industry, and have collectively edited 3 million words.
Beyond what we have in common, it’s our differences that make our partnership shine.

Nicole worked as a bookseller for nine years and has amassed a wicked collection of signed books by Neil Gaiman, N.K. Jemisin, and Stephen King. Her own writing has been featured in magazines and earned a silver honorable mention from the Writers of the Future contest.
Nicole has an eye for story structure and keeps the Conquer Books team up-to-date on the latest story development theories. She is an empathetic writing mentor and loves helping writers build marketing plans to grow their platforms in a sustainable, high-impact way.

Rebecca is a former magazine editor-in-chief and an indie author herself. She uses science fiction as a platform for analyzing the pain and beauty of our own world. Her debut novel, It’s Over or It’s Eden, is an Amazon bestselling title. She’s also a member of the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writer’s Association.
She loves helping writers piece together the business side of their author journey and especially enjoys the technical side of line editing. She has a keen ear for voice and loves speaking at writing-related events.

How We Got Started as Writing Mentors
We started a book blog back in 2018 out of a desire to share our love for the science fiction and fantasy genre. We read books, wrote reviews, posted author updates, and made listicles about upcoming titles. The more we worked to be a part of the sci-fi and fantasy community, the more people reached out to us for help with their own original story ideas.
It wasn’t long before we were fielding questions about the best way to market yourself as an author or how to create more lovable characters. Our readers and viewers constantly wanted our thoughts on the writing side of things and eventually we transitioned to become full writing mentors. These days, that’s what we do as professional book coaches—we help writers level up their game.
Writing is a game of time. You can easily spend decades in these trenches, trying to figure out what makes a plot tick. Our job is to drastically shorten that time for you. A book coach removes the unfounded steps along the way and shows you a clearer, more sustainable path to the best writing methods.
